This is a reading and discussion course focused on providing students a strong theoretical foundation in the Learning Sciences and a familiarity with the relevant literature. Students often lead class discussions, write reaction papers, and reflect on how the readings intersect with their experiences in their hands-on project work. Some of the topics covered in this course are: intelligence, how memory works, learning and instruction, situated cognition, analogical reasoning and transfer, expert-novice differences, learner¿s na¿ve conceptions, and conceptual change.
