Non Major Tap - Mini Course (Jan 12 - Mar 4) Tues/Thur 5:30-6:50 Instructor: Ken Leigh Rogers -Johnson (kenleigh@andrew) Prerequiste: permission from instructor before registering with Catherine Morrow, PCA 223 (morrow@andrew) Limit of 12 students This course is designed for the advanced beginner level student, one who has a good basic tap vocabulary (flap, shuffle, cramp roll, weight changes). THIS IS NOT AN ELEMENTARY COURSE. Tap shoes are required to take the class as well as having a serious attitude in order to advance one's skills. Students must have tap shoes by the second class - January 15th. The class objective is to expand the student's vocabulary, apply the vocabulary into faster and clearer sounds and to advance the student's overall proficiency in tap. An extensive warmup is done at the beginning of class in which tap vocabulary is introduced and clarity of sound is stressed. This is followed by a workshop where work on various vocabulary steps are continued or a new vocabulary term is introduced. Several choreographed dances will be given and practiced over the course of the semester to improve the students memorization/sequencing and performance skills as well as honing their technique. Two juries will be given during the eight weeks/80 minutes classes, where full participation is absolutely imperative. This is not one of those "easy A" courses. Please contact the instructor in regards to your previous tap skills, who will instruct you to the Academic Advisor for registration into the class. You may also get further information about the course or the purchasing of shoes by contacting the instructor - Ken Leigh Rogers-Johnson at
