The practical evolution of material, material operation, building systems, construction techniques, representation and fabrication technologies have placed the contemporary practitioner in an unprecedented position of privilege. The sympathetic development of contract forms specifically oriented toward metric based performance has provided an opportunity for the exploration of transformative modalities in architectural production; modalities that are increasingly collapsing segregated responsibilities into a seamless collaborative enterprise. Emergent forms of practice have evolved in response to these actualized conditions. Media utilized by these practices generate construction and performance information directly from design information, radically altering traditional relationships between conception and production. The Alternative Delivery Methods seminar will explore emergent, process based methodologies employed by practices that incorporate collective intelligence and nonhierarchical production structures. Case study analysis and applied research in productive representation/scalar fabrication will be utilized as the primary vehicles in the examination of interconnected conditions that reside within the transforming context of contemporary practice.
