This course introduces theoretical foundations, computational approaches, and design methods in architectural acoustics (building and room acoustics). Topics covered include a review of physiological and psychological response to the acoustical environment, predictions of outdoor and indoor air-borne sound propagation, sound transmission between rooms, design methods in room acoustics, and applications of computer-aided simulation tools for room acoustical design. Relevant building design standards and codes will also be discussed.
