This course serves as a general introduction to Ph.D. level research in Human Computer Interaction. It will provide some background material in key HCI related areas, discuss the nature of research typically performed in an HCI context, and explore the processes and methodologies typical of interdisciplinary work in HCI. The course will be project-oriented, giving students practical experience with a small interdisciplinary research project related to the project theme for the year. UNITS: 9 PREREQUISITES: None TEXT: None. Assigned readings will be posted on the course blackboard site. METHOD OF EVALUATION: Grading will be based on class participation, a set of assignments, and the project.
